SUMMARY:New Day Bereavement Program - St. Thomas the Apostle Church
DESCRIPTION:Those who are grieving the death of a loved one need to proactively work through their grief. One way that may be helpful is to participate in the bereavement support group called the New Day Program. This program consists of ten two-hour weekly meetings. During each meeting\, participants work through one component of the grieving process\, guided by the New Day Journal. \nWe will be offering an in-person session starting on Friday\, August 1st from 10am-12pm. DESCRIPTION:Students entering grades 3 through 8 are invited to participate in an exciting week of various activities related to music & art. \nThe music camp will be led by Fr. David Cinquegrani and Kevin Hadyka and take place in the mornings on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Singing in small groups and all together\, playing instruments and listening are all part of this enjoyable and educational week. A selection will be performed at the end of each session and a short concert on the final day will bring the week to an inspiring end. Snacks will be provided. \nThe art camp will be led by Cheryl Gosselin and Lori Little and will take place in the afternoons on Monday through Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will study different artists\, forms of art and create masterpieces of our own during our time together. Pope Francis has named this year a “Year of Prayer.” He described it as “a year dedicated to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer in one’s personal life\, in the life of the Church\, and in the world.” Since prayer is a means of holding that connection between humanity and God\, we invite you to come and explore the depths of a life of prayer and learn ways to maintain the sacred connection to God through Christ\, the true vine. Conferences and workshops will be offered along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Celebration of the Eucharist. \nThe retreat begins with a buffet dinner from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening and concludes Sunday with the celebration of Mass at 10:45 a.m.\, followed by a hot brunch at noon.
