SUMMARY:Film Study: "Man for All Seasons"
DESCRIPTION:Academy Award winning film “Man For All Seasonsˮ depicts the conflict between St. Thomas More and King Henry VIII. When the King could not get a Papal annulment for his legitimate marriage\, his next move was to separate from the Catholic Church and declare himself the head of the Church of England. This brought him into conflict with his Chancellor\, Thomas More\, a staunch Catholic. The film dramatizes the conflict and the high stakes that Thomas faces to remain true to his conscience. Jim  Pepitone is the discussion leader. A freewill donation will be welcomed.\nTo register email or call Sr. Patricia Cigrand.\nEmail: cigrandpatricia@gmail.com or 203-606-4830.

SUMMARY:In My Love\, Abide: Women's Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Jesus calls us to remain in love as the branches remain with the vine for life and sustenance. We know that Jesus prayed often and taught his disciples to do the same. Pope Francis has named this year a “Year of Prayer.” He described it as “a year dedicated to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer in one’s personal life\, in the life of the Church\, and in the world.” Since prayer is a means of holding that connection between humanity and God\, we invite you to come and explore the depths of a life of prayer and learn ways to maintain the sacred connection to God through Christ\, the true vine. Conferences and workshops will be offered along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Celebration of the Eucharist. \nThe retreat begins with a buffet dinner from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening and concludes Sunday with the celebration of Mass at 10:45 a.m.\, followed by a hot brunch at noon. Families of retreatants are most welcome to attend the Sunday Mass and brunch at no extra charge. \nVisit www.holyfamilyretreat.org/calendar/women06 to reserve your spot.

SUMMARY:Living the Spirituality of Mary
DESCRIPTION:The Blessed Mother Awaits You in Mystic\nAs Catholics\, May is a sweet and welcome month as we celebrate the Blessed Mother. This May\, follow your longing to connect more deeply with her and come to St. Edmund’s Retreat on Enders Island in Mystic\, CT\, where two programs will lead more deeply to Mary’s love amid nature’s beauty. \nVisitors can choose the program that fits their schedule\, letting go for either a day or an entire weekend.\nThe first program is a Day of Recollection: Star of the Sea\, on Wednesday\, May 14\, 2025\, from 10:00 to 3:00. The cost is $75\, including lunch. \nThe second program goes deeper than the day-long offering: Living the Spirituality of Mary\, May 16-18\, 2025. The weekend program is $350 to stay overnight\, and $175 for commuters. \nIn both programs\, participants will read scripture\, share with one other\, pray\, ponder and rest. Together\, fresh pathways to Mary will be discovered. Both programs will be led by writer Maureen O’Brien. \nEnders Island\, with its 11 acres surrounded by the sea\, is a true refuge. One of the most healing aspects of the island is the Seaside Chapel underneath the Our Lady of Fatima shrine. The ocean water laps nearly to the edge of the enclosed stone chapel. In this sacred spot\, with the altar holding an array of rosaries\, holy cards and small stones left in memory of loved ones\, the comfort of the Star of the Sea is easily found. \nAll are welcome. For more information and to register\, call St. Edmunds’ Retreat at 860-536-0565\, or go online to enders.is/programs.
